Job Summary:


As Senior Director Finance you support this Mission, by assisting and supporting the SVP Finance, CFO by reviewing the corporations' books of account as well as reviewing the monthly financial statements for accuracy and compliance with GAAP for Bay Cove, CASPAR, Growthways and all HUD legal entities. You will be one of the primary contact persons with the agency's external auditing firm and banks.
This is an exempt position.

Other Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with public accounting experience preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years' previous supervisory experience.
  • An acceptable CORI (criminal record assessment).
  • A COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of the position. One COVID-19 shot is acceptable, contingent on the individualreceiving the second shot within the allottedtime frame.

Essential Functions of Position:


Accounting/Financial Management Duties:
  • Review monthly HUD financial statements, including comparison of actual to budget, ensure accuracy of coding, check additions to assets and liabilities, verify that A/P aging and A/R aging and the corresponding G/L accounts have been balanced, verify that any balances due/to from HUD and Bay Cove are correct and that statements are produced in a timely manner.
  • Work with Accounting Manager to prepare weekly Controller Dashboard Report and preparation of agency's monthly cash flow projection for the annual budget.
  • Ensure completion of monthly tracking/reconciliation of investment accounts and the associated journal entries in time for the monthly close including all necessary reporting on agency's restricted funds.
  • Ensure that all balance sheet accounts for Bay Cove, CASPAR, Growthways and the HUDS are reconciled on a monthly basis and any issues are brought to the attention of the CFO.
  • Provide oversight of opening and closing of bank accounts for all entities as needed, as well as changes needed to add or delete authorized signers or users of all bank accounts.
  • Ensure all reconciliation of bank statements are performed on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare schedules for annual 990 reporting by March 1st, communicate with external auditors around 990 preparation, and review 990 and Massachusetts Form PC drafts to support filing by May 15th.
  • Ensure all audit reconciliations are sent to the external audit firm on a timely basis and provide information as needed for any Bay Cove, CASPAR, Growthways, HUDs, Workers Comp, and 403(b) audits.
  • Provide oversight to Housing data in ResMan system. Support and direct Housing Data Coordinator with any issues that arise.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements to the Banks and provide information on follow up questions.

Department Operations Duties:

  • Annually, or as necessary, review Accounting Department policies and procedures and indicate review date in the Electronic Handbook.
  • Ensure completion of all Form 3ABC, annual Census, and CEDAC/DHCD reporting, as well as applying for property tax abatement on all newly acquired property.
  • Ensure any necessary financial information for CARF and other accreditation reviews are completed annually or as needed.
  • Any other function, temporary or otherwise assigned by the SVP - Finance, CFO.

Other Professional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated accounting, project management and system implementation experience.
  • Non-profit or State contracting experience is a plus.
  • Must be proficient in Excel and familiar with Microsoft Word.

  • Provides staff supervision and training.
  • Supervises and supports staff through regular supervision, staff meetings, direct observation and periodic written evaluations.
  • Evaluates work performance of supervisees as specified by agency-personnel policies.
  • Ensures provision of adequate staff coverage to complete the workload.
  • Supervision of permanent and temporary staff.
  • Supervises contractors on assigned projects.
  • Interview, select, train, and conduct evaluations of staff and institute disciplinary action where appropriate.
