This position can be based in Marlborough, MA, El Paso, TX, Irvine, CA, Bend, OR or New York, NY.

What you will be doing:

As a Sr. DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for performing/managing a variety of technical duties on our AWS IoT infrastructure including application planning, analysis, testing, and product installation to deliver high quality solutions to our organization and ultimately consumers. We are looking for a creative and dedicated individual who will fit with our collaborative culture.

The DevOps Engineer will work directly with the IoT Architect, Software Engineers, and agencies to build scalable, secure and efficient cloud infrastructure in AWS and guide the organization in DevOps practices. You will be expected to deploy, automate, maintain and lead AWS cloud-based systems, to ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of all systems. Build, release, and configuration management of systems supporting the platform. Participate in pre-production Acceptance Testing to help assure the quality of their products and services.


  • System troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains

  • Standardizing baselines and templates for all services and implementing standard methodologies across all IOT efforts and processes

  • Transitioning all infrastructure releases into a CI/CD pipeline

  • Implementing configuration and patch management systems to fully automate the deployment and operation of the IoT services

  • Ensure and implement data privacy and secure data handling

  • Ensure system security using outstanding cloud security solutions

  • Help develop and testing disaster recovery plans for core services

  • Provide project management and coordinate the execution of software updates to our devices, apps and cloud

  • Occasionally writing and editing code, software scripts and system improvements

  • Network and server administration including accounts, permissions, and identifying glitches

  • Prototyping and testing system performance

  • Work closely with the engineering team (hardware, software and app) from the Health & Home Division

  • Crafting an observability platform

  • Support global enterprise projects & initiatives


Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Skilled in implementing and executing processes to create and fully maintain automated CI /CD pipelines for code deployments.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally within a team environment

  • Excellent written communication, problem solving, and process leadership skills


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field

  • 5+ years' experience as a DevOps engineer with a passion for automation and continuous improvement

  • 5+ years of technical experience with significant personal capabilities in AWS, using CloudFormation, Lambda/API Gateway, and CloudWatch

  • 5+ years strong scripting and programming skills with several modern programming languages (Python, Java, Bash)

  • Experience in one or more specific IoT service, edge computing, B2B service platform development

  • Understanding of emerging IoT and Mobile technologies and communications protocols

  • 5+ years solid experience in Linux environments

  • Treating Infrastructure as Code by scripting tasks (Bash, Python), using repositories (Github), following an SDLC (Gitflow, Pull Requests), and never doing things manually in production

  • Solid grasp and management experience of the modern Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) implementing large-scale applications in hosted production environments

  • Experience in software development solving varied software related problems, reviewing and testing software components for adherence to the design

  • Demonstrable experience with large systems that required sophisticated configurations and customize solutions

  • Creating observability through centralized log monitoring, event collection, RUM and synthetic monitoring, and incident response tracking

  • Implementing DevSecOps through automated security checks, intrusion detection, compliance monitoring

  • Proficient in automation using Bash, Python, or shell scripts

  • Experience with a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services


Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certification
