RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client that is searching for an experienced Senior Database Engineer - Public Cloud in Newport Beach, CA.Overview:Our Client's database team is looking for a Senior Database Engineer - Public Cloud, to work in a fast paced environment, providing both production & development support. This position will work closely with various development groups across the firm, and should demonstrate his/her ability as a Technical Subject Matter Expert on the team. Essential Duties:

• Provide production support, solutions and expertise for Cloud Database Platforms
• Partner with engineering teams, business units to design, develop and deploy AWS Relational, NoSQL and Data Lake architectures
• Ability to troubleshoot difficult issues quickly, deliver RCA and resolve in a 24x7 production environment
• Support performance testing and application benchmarking activities
• Provide recommendations and guidance for improvements of our design
• Collect, monitor and alert on system health metrics
• Work off hours/weekends as required for maintenance

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Management Information Systems or equivalent
• At least 1 recent platform certification or specialty in AWS is nice to have
• 8+ years of database development support
• 3+ years of production experience supporting Cloud Database Platforms (Aurora, RDS, DocumentDB, Snowflake)
• 5+ years of experience developing critical platform infrastructure
• Experience with on-prem relational systems; Oracle, SQL Server
• Experience with NoSQL and columnar data stores
• Strong scripting abilities in bash, python
• Experience in version control systems, Git and CI/CD
• Excellent communication skills. Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
• Experience in building large systems, distributed systems
• Diligent standards in providing documentation and building repeatable processes
• Kerberos and Database authentication using key vault
• Knowledge of and experience implementing DevOps principles including Infrastructure-as-code
• Ability to work off hours/weekends as required for maintenance
• Proven experience building AWS Infrastructure is nice to have
• Experience in public cloud data warehouse technologies (Redshift, Snowflake, EMR) is nice to have
• Experience in Data Migration Strategies to public cloud is nice to have
