JOB SUMMARY

Serves as the primary attorney for the Company's supply chain/procurement department. Structures, drafts, and negotiates standard and non-standard contracts for a variety of procurement activities. This role will report directly to the Associate General Counsel and will have the assistance of a paralegal shared with the other attorneys in the Denver office.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Provides legal advice, contract interpretation and legal assessment of rights, risks and liabilities for procurement transactions
  • Drafts, negotiates and reviews standard and non-standard procurement contracts for goods and services including Master Services and Goods Agreements and related Statements of Work, Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) Agreements, Facilities Access Agreements, and other professional services agreements
  • Negotiates standard information technology licensing agreements, including software licenses, software as a service (SaaS) agreements, and data or software subscription agreements
  • Analyzes and advises on supplier disputes
  • Understands and advises on regulatory requirements for HR benefit services contracts
  • Resolves commercial disputes with vendors of goods and services, such as warranty claims, demands for payment, breach of contract issues and resolution of liens
  • Creates and provides training on relevant legal matters and contracting principles and protocols to various procurement, strategic sourcing and other Company personnel
  • Represents the Company/department in a professional and positive manner with both internally and externally including with customers, governmental officials and trade associations
  • Keeps abreast of latest advances in their professional areas, proposed changes in legislation, and the current trends and developments in related legal areas and themidstreamnatural gas industry
Collaborates with other members of the legal department to ensure a consistent contracting approach and involve subject matter expertise
  • Performs other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law and be in good standing in Colorado, Texas or other state acceptable to the Company
  • A minimum of 6 years' experience practicing law is required, although employees typically have 8-10 years
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in a law firm or corporate law department with significant exposure to the to supply chain and procurement
  • Strong ability to think critically and develop innovative solutions to solve to problems
  • Possesses good judgment to determine when assistance from supervisor, colleagues or outside counsel is warranted, and seeks third party assistance in an efficient and thoughtful manner
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to influence at a local level and across a broad organization
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
SPECIAL DEMANDS
  • This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc. Noise level is typically low. Frequently in a stationary, sitting position for prolonged periods of time. Regularly moves about inside the office to complete tasks, attend meetings or to access the copy machine or file cabinets. Periodically pulls/pushes doors open to move around the office. Occasionally may lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
SALARY

The salary is $133,500.00-220,300.
