Position Summary

SDSU Mission Valley is designed as a vibrant, mixed-use, medium-density development that is transit-oriented, and expands the university's educational, research, entrepreneurial, and technology transfer programs. SDSU Mission Valley will also include transit, retail, housing, and the development of more than 80 acres of community parks and open space, including the 34-acre River Park. SDSU Mission Valley is self-supporting and will be paid for by revenue generated by uses on the site. SDSU will utilize public-private partnerships to leverage private sector financing, as well as additional skill sets from a variety of commercial, industrial, and residential developers.


Reporting to and in collaboration with the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Mission Valley Development, the Senior Analyst will provide administrative program oversight to meet the strategic goals and objectives for SDSU Mission Valley. The Senior Analyst will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of SDSU Mission Valley with a focus on real estate, land use, and development. They will actively communicate with stakeholders regarding SDSU Mission Valley. This will include responding to information requests for projects, requests for public information, or other parties of interest. . The Senior Analyst serves as confidant and advisor to the AVP and will help to develop solutions or pathways to achieve strategic goals. They will generally work behind the scenes to help solve problems and deal with issues before they are brought to the AVP.

The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator who will establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. They will possess project and business management skills along with strong financial acumen. They will work and think independently and be comfortable with changing and competing priorities. The successful candidate will have a high level of motivation focusing on getting the job done.

This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

Education and Experience

A basic foundation of knowledge of the principles of organization, administration, and management; and the ability to analyze and find solutions to problems, work independently, communicate effectively, and write clear and concise reports. Some positions may require a basic knowledge of research techniques and statistical methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree or professional training program specific to the position and directly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, real estate, land use planning, public administration, communications or related field
  • Three to five years of relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience
  • Strong public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Higher Education Experience
  • Experience with Real Estate Land Use Planning or Business Management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Google Workspace

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $7,500 per month. San Diego State University will offer a competitive salary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. San Diego State University also offers a rich benefits package that includes:

SDSU Vaccine Policy

In accordance with the California State University system-wide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.

The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.
