Working with general supervision, the Federal Income Tax Senior Accountant is responsible for the Federal income tax provision and return, including all associated accounting, compliance and reporting functions. Associate may interact with his or her supervisor several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require a supervisor's advance approval.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Prepare and review Federal tax estimates, returns and extensions

  • Assist in preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision and tax account analysis using OneSource tax provision software

  • Maintain fixed assets for Federal tax depreciation

  • Respond to Federal tax notices

  • Maintain and update Federal tax compliance calendar

  • Research Federal tax matters and prepare monthly tax issues memoranda

  • Prepare quarterly tax account reconciliations

  • Act as an advisor to non-senior accountants

  • Manage relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization; adhere consistently with all organizational policies related to our respectful workplace

  • Demonstrate a consistent commitment to field-focused service by prioritizing field-based requests, responding quickly and favorably to field-based feedback, by minimizing tasks, and proactively seeking ways to help store teams focus on customer service as productively as possible

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required; CPA, MBA or MS preferred

  • 3 years or more of corporate income tax experience required

  • Retail or multi-location tax experience preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Expert ability to operate at both the strategic and operational level

  • Expert knowledge of Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs; specifically, Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word

  • Expert quantitative analysis skills, including the ability to interpret, analyze, organize, and report financial data

  • Proficient ability to organize, prioritize, and control job responsibilities, while remaining the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines

  • Proficient ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers and international staff

  • Proficient ability to research, analyze, interpret and apply Federal income tax laws and principles

  • Proficient ability to identify emerging Federal tax issues and potential impact to Company

  • Expert ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and change in priorities

  • Proficient communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English

  • Proficient ability to work collaboratively with others; conduct working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization

  • Proficient ability to remain effective under stress, and respond to pressure in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to model customer-focused behaviors leading to outstanding customer experiences
