Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Safety Director includes but is not limited to: Work closely with division leadership to develop and support a culture of team engagement and ownership in Safety; Interact with all division teammates to ensure understanding and OSHA; develop methods to identify and remove hazards; Supervise and develop Health and Safety personnel; Develop, organize, and provide safety training; compile, review and report injury/illness statistics; conduct safety visits, audits and observations throughout the plant site; develop, coordinate, and conduct division safety activities and initiatives. This position must positively and effectively interact with the entire team to promote a culture of safety and achieve an injury free workplace. Must be willing to work required hours and to be on-call in emergency situations 24/7. Must be willing to travel several times per year, up to a week at a time for safety meetings, audits and best marking.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
