Summary:
Evaluates the activities and flow of work for trauma patients.

Work Schedule: Full Time Days


3+ years of recent ED/critical care/Trauma registered nurse experience strongly preferred.

Delivers successful service to our internal and external customers by adhering to critical success standards: demonstrating accountability and commitment to quality and safety standards; taking ownership in the financial success of the hospital with appropriate resource use and management; providing exceptional customer service; and exerting effort to insure a positive work environment that demonstrates dedication to the hospital's mission, vision and values. Assures quality trauma nursing practice through the monitoring of performance standards defined by state and national regulatory bodies. Creates and maintains an environment that encourages personnel toward innovative, effective and efficient trauma practices that enhance patient outcomes. Identifies patients that need to be entered into the trauma registry and any complication that would need evaluation by the trauma committee or medical director. Rounds on all trauma patients as available. Assist trauma registrar in entering data into the trauma registry. Assists trauma program manager in preparation for trauma survey designation by the State and other regulatory agencies. Participates on multidisciplinary teams to collaborative address program development and services. Represents University of Colorado Hospital in the community, region, and state including participation on governing and regulatory bodies. Fosters an environment of cooperation and collaboration between and among nursing personnel, medical staff, and internal and external customers. Participates in staff development by reviewing current trauma standards and expectations regarding care of the trauma patient. This position requires the employee to be responsible for the assessment, treatment, and care of patients of certain age categories, as appropriate to assigned patient populations. The age specific populations this employee may competently care for may include the following: infant (0-23 months), pediatrics (2-11), adolescent (12-17), adult (18-74), and geriatric patient (75 and older).


Responsibilities:
Implements and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

Participates on multidisciplinary teams to collaboratively address program development, problem identification and resolution, cost containment issues, regulatory compliance, and systems/performance/outcomes measures.

Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program services, practice standards, and initiatives, including program-specific committees, conferences, and staff/public education opportunities.

Serves as a resource to staff regarding clinical practice, policies, and program services. May provide direct patient care as needed to evaluate or assist with caring for patients.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.


Requirements:

  • Credentials:
    Essential:
    * Basic Life Support
    * Registered Nurse
    * Advanced Cardiac Life Support
    * Trauma Nurse Core Course
    * Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses
  • Other information:
    Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years experience. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
    Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Relevant life support certification as determined at position level.
    Minimum Experience: 3 years of nursing experience.
    TNCC or ATCN within 1 year of hire.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

This position's pay range starts at: $34.430000/hour.


An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
