Description:
This is a weekend only position

Responds to emergencies as the primary nursing responder. Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrates expertise in performance and application of the nursing process to plan and manage the care of patients in crisis, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Supports bedside RNs in management of patients requiring concentrated nursing care. Effectively communicates complex and comprehensive information thoroughly and succinctly. Identifies and communicates variances from patient goals. Expertly negotiates challenges or complexities in care delivery, providing and coordinating interdisciplinary patient care utilizing the nursing process. Assesses staff learning needs and provides education to address practice issues and updates.

This job description, performance appraisal and competency assessment applies to all Registered Nurses who have successfully met performance expectations for Registered Nurse. The employee supports the Mission of CHE Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
Minimum licensure/certification required (if applicable):

Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (BSN or MSN) required.

Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.

BLS certification; ACLS certification

Professional specialty certifications may be required in accordance with departmental standards or role requirements.

  • HRPC: Inpatient OB certification for exam-eligible RNs

*For RNs working in Labor and Delivery, High Risk Perinatal Center and Float Pool E: NCC EFM Certification. For novice RNs and experienced RNs newly hired, certification must be obtained within twelve months of hire.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

Current knowledge of nursing skills and practice Minimum of 4 years of critical care experience Computer and audiovisual skills using various applications: Internet, email, word processing Ability to retrieve and interpret data Effectively read, speak, write, compose and comprehend English Effective eye and hand coordination Ability to analyze and synthesize information within a short period of time Effective problem-solving skills Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize Ability to work well with individuals and groups

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift patients/patient care equipment up to 35 pounds. Must be able to push, pull, and move patients and patient care equipment. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist and be able to kneel. Must be able to utilize a computer for periods of time throughout the shift.

Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly at distances close to the eyes.

Auditory Acuity: Must have sufficient acuity to identify auditory alarms in noisy environments.
