Retention and Deal Strategy Specialist

This position is located within the Global Commercial COE. The Commercial COE provides client negotiation strategies and procurement support - including coaching, training and direct negotiations with clients. The Pricing team focuses on global pricing and value reporting to defend our spend with clients. We develop ROI and business case templates as well as value-based pricing and creative pricing models.

The Retention and Deal Strategy Specialist directly supports the Global Pricing and Scoping Leader to drive business performance and operating results. The Retention and Deal Strategy Specialist will provide support to client teams to define value proposition, support pricing strategy, and update billing rates. Responsibilities include:

  • Support Mercer client teams to structure and assemble client value reports which highlight Mercer's value proposition
  • Support Mercer client teams with pricing strategy, and help structure and draft pricing documents for client submission
  • Partner internally with Mercer business leadership to conduct research and analysis to explain results, and provide inputs to strategic decision-making
  • Provide analytical and operational support to the Commercial COE team
  • Conduct research on client companies using external published sources and other available information
  • Support the global billing rate development process

Qualified candidates for the Retention and Deal Strategy Specialist:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, statistics, or mathematics; prefer an analytics-based degree; advanced degree is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Strong understanding of, and experience with, business case development and analysis
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of operational metrics, including sales analytics, client profitability and pricing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable communicating with senior executives, clients and staff
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity, seeking opportunities to develop new skills
  • Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
