At Help At Home, our Nursing Teams are focused on overseeing medical services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The RT will be working closely with persons served and direct support professionals to ensure the best possible health services in their community.

The main focus of this position is to provide RT services, and to meet the identified health care needs of the population the Agency serves. The RT works within the framework of the Agency's policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable State, Federal and local administrative rules and regulations, as well as accreditation standards concerning the health care needs of the Agency's consumers. This position reports directly to the Residential Director.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provides Respiratory care to consumers.
• Cleans respiratory equipment.
• Provides supportive services to consumers and for individual consumers as assigned by the QIDP according to Agency policies and procedures.
• Collects consumer data as assigned and reports pertinent condition changes to the QIDP as appropriate.
• Reports consumer responses to supportive care provided to the consumer within the specified work day and reports to QIDP information that would impact the services and/or direct staff Individual Support Plan.
• Demonstrates the ability to care for a variety of consumer and reports issues to the QIDP that might indicate a case conference is needed.
• Participates in case conferences as requested.
• Functions according to Agency productivity standards.
• Documents findings accurately, in a timely manner and on appropriate forms according to Agency policies and procedures.
• Utilizes RT, nursing and office supplies in a cost-effective and appropriate manner.
• Provides accurate and timely timesheets per Agency policy.
• Follows assigned schedule as assigned by Agency or notifies QIDP when schedule cannot be followed.
• Must maintain patient confidentiality.
• Evaluates own professional needs and provides suggestions to meet those needs such as in-services or other continuing education.
• Assists in daily hygiene (showering, brushing teeth, using the bathroom, etc.)
• Accompany to medical appointments or to daily activities using the Help at Home Van.

Qualifications and Skills

Respiratory Therapist licensure REQUIRED.
