We are currently looking for a Research Associate to join our team! The qualified individual will be responsible for using their biotechnology experience and knowledge to execute projects to analyze and optimize downstream bioprocess unit operations and to communicate their results internally. The Research Associate will engage in day-to-day operations of the process laboratory, including designing and executing bioprocess projects with supervision, particularly focused on virus filtration and other downstream purification processes. This individual will also support a manufacturing process by assisting with scheduling, raw material management, documentation, etc.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Experimental:
    • Participate in the design, implementation, and documentation of experimental projects to develop and study bioprocess filtration operations with a focus on viral clearance and pathogen safety. Work may include evaluations at both laboratory and production scale.
    • Author technical reports, journal articles, and presentations to document findings for internal and external distribution.
    • Follow all quality procedures and business and safety practices and train others to do the same.
    • Assist in maintenance of the laboratory, including maintaining safety and 5S standards, and maintaining and calibrating equipment.
    • Assist field staff with shipments of equipment for studies whenever necessary.
  • Manufacturing Support:
    • Support day-to-day operations for manufacturing of EZ GPT Kits. Develop and maintain manufacturing schedules and update procedures to support manufacturing and QC operators to provide high quality products and achieve on-time shipments to customers.
  • Attend and contribute to regular group meetings and journal club meetings and provide monthly project update reports.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of bioprocess unit operations, including mechanisms, validation strategies, and regulatory considerations.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry trends in biologics process development and manufacturing operations.

Requirements:
  • BS/BA or MS in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemical or Biochemical Engineering or similar scientific discipline and 1-3 years of experience.
  • Ability to work in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory is required.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present results and recommendations is required.
  • Work experience in biopharmaceutical process development or manufacturing sciences is a plus.
  • Experience with viral clearance or virus filtration is a plus.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work in a Biosafety Level 2 environment.
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals and pressurized liquids.
