Position Information: UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA SCHOOL OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH SCIENCES, Research Assistant Professor, Director of the Radon Test Chamber, Department of Population Health, Position #00103116DescriptionThe Department of Population Health is seeking qualified applicants for a Research Assistant Professor position to help achieve our mission to excel in biostatistics and bioinformatics education/training; to conduct high-quality methodological and collaborative biostatistics/bioinformatics research; and to provide an essential component of the scientific basis for quantitative biomedical research throughout the State of North and South Dakota by providing a variety of research-related services including manuscript preparation, proposal development, grant review, ethics review, help in project management, contract negotiation, award administration, post grant support, bio-statistical support, financial management and reporting.The applicant will also have a key role in the supervision of a radon test chamber, presently under development, which will be used by biomedical researchers to expose cells and laboratory animals to radon gas under controlled conditions.Compensation and Appointment Position: Research Assistant ProfessorRemuneration/Salary: $70,000+/annually; commensurate with experience and qualifications Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, and tuition waiver. This position is a full-time, twelve (12) month, non-tenure track, special appointment with University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) within the Department of Population Health. Duties & ResponsibilitiesGrant Support

    Provide support for all submitted requests to the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Design Core (BERDC) of the DaCCota Translational Science grantDetermine methods of statistical analysis and apply techniquesParticipate in/advise on the design of quantitative and qualitative research projects and clinical trials, analyze data, develop conclusions, write parts of reports and statistical analysis plans for clinical trials, prepare presentations of relevant findings and conclusionsPerform sample size calculation and power analysisDevelop statistical training material for a wide audienceSupport original research on epidemiological, population health, biomedical, and biostatistical topicsCollaborate with other researchers on joint projectsPerform other duties and services to the University as applicable

Radon Test Chamber Director

    Oversee construction, support, and maintenance of the Radon Test ChamberSupport all researchers using the radon chamber for experimentsMonitor radon levels and respond to safety issuesComply with all radiation and animal safety requirementsPromote and connect researchers to the radon chamberCollaborate on proposals and research papers dealing with the radon chamber
Minimum Requirements
    Ph.D. in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Biology, Biomedical Science, or related field.At least 2 years of epidemiological or health-related research as evidence by peer reviewed journal articles.
    1 year experience in radon researchSuccessful completion of criminal history records check.

    Experience in cancer clinical trials and/or health-related studies including study design and data analysis.Proficient using R, SAS, or other statistical software programs.Familiarity with the IACUC application process.Demonstrated work on collaborative projects.
