This position monitors FMCSA portals for accuracy regarding inspections and reporting. The accuracy is scored and has a reflection on annual Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) awards. This position also uploads ASPEN inspections/crash reports into SafetyNet and amends key components within the MCSAP monthly monitoring reports. Assist the MCSAP Manager in the development and implementation of the MCSAP grant. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports required by federal agencies, compile monthly reports on activity, analyze, interpret and evaluate data by using a personal computer database. Remain current on federal regulations and interpret what and how changes affect the MCSAP Program. Maintain inventory control of equipment purchased through federal funding. Monitor correspondence, collect information, and prepare response and grant applications.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Post high school coursework/training in research design, sampling techniques, and statistics or program evaluation PLUS experience performing or providing technical support for others performing research or statistical analysis. PREFERRED: Experience writing grant applications and various reports required by federal agencies by interpreting and analyzing complex data and information received or compiled through analysis work. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook also required.

OTHER: Regular and reliable attendance is expected. Selection process will include an interview.

Knowledge of: the principles and procedures of research design and analysis; descriptive and inductive statistical methods; resource material concerning statistical and research data collection and analysis methods; agency policies and procedures pertinent to the collection and analysis of data; legislation, policies, and standards governing the mission and/or programs of the agency; available literature and other resource material pertinent to the programs and activities of the agency; the demographic characteristics, such as economic, social industrial, or occupational, of problems of those served by the agency.
Ability to: communicate effectively to exchange factual information and research findings and conclusions; apply instructions pertinent to collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of research data; identify trends and critical elements in program and demographic data; analyze and interpret numerical data, charts, and tables; formulate conclusions based on data analysis; summarized data into charts, graphs, tables, and narrative reports; calculate solutions to mathematical problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, powers and algebra; operate calculators and computers.
