Job Summary/Basic Function:
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and a high level of expertise in the grant management including including interpretation and application of research rules and regulations and fiscal management, on behalf of researchers, to sponsors and members of the University's research community. Financial management of recharge center process at Boise State University

Level Scope:
Experienced professional able to apply knowledge of federal, state and University policies and procedures in grant funded University research environment, providing data collection and reporting of progress and expense, including payroll, in a regulated and time sensitive reporting.

Essential Functions:
70% of the time the Research Administrator must:

  • Grant Management - Manage BEA grants across campus in conjunction with Office of Sponsored Programs.
  • Policies and Procedures - Read, interpret and apply federal, state and University policies and procedures for the utilization of grant funds to ensure compliance.
  • Financial/Budget - Manage, prepare and submit grant budgets, advance spending requests, cost share, budget transfers, journal entries, and other applicable forms. Reconcile expenditures against balances and correct as needed.
  • Reporting - prepare written and numerical grant budget, expense and projection reports
  • Presentation - Orally present pre- and post-award information to University community, sponsors, and the public to promote research opportunities and activities.
  • Meet with Principal Investigators on grants, updates, budget reporting and deliverables
  • Final balance confirmation for projects
  • Participate in project closeout as needed
  • Review approve and project expenditures, hire forms, funding change forms, and expense reports
  • Facilitate audits as requested

25% of the time the Research Administrator must:
  • Manage recharge center invoicing, accounts payable, purchase requests, usage budgets, financial statements
  • Monitor and reconcile recharge budgets ensuring accounts receivables are accurately reflected, making journal entry corrections as needed
  • Assist with Rate Reviews annually
  • Assist with recharge budget projections as requested
  • Develop positive working relationships to foster a collaborative environment for grant coordination and oversight
  • Contribute to process improvements

5% Duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to create and review complex budgets
  • Ability to think independently and make qualified judgments
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform data collection tasks and report to a variety of end users using a variety of information systems.
  • Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Acquisition Regulations, Uniform Guidance and other federal regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years relevant experience or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in higher education or governmental accounting
  • Experience working with sponsored research administration
  • Experience with accounting procedures and applying accounting principles
  • Experience managing high volume and complex transactions
  • Experience researching issues and formulating solutions that frequently involve unique issues/problems
  • Experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures, laws, and regulations
  • Experience communicating complex information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Experience working as a member of a team and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students

Salary and Benefits:
Salary is up to $52,000 depending on experience.
