Position Summary:

Provide operation & maintenance technical assistance to community facilities including water/wastewater/clinics and training to water and sewer system operators in communities throughout the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualifications are a high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years in the field of sanitation facility construction and repair including one (1) year experience in the State of Alaska.
  • Will be able to self manage tasks, projects, and their priority to meet deadlines.
  • Good human relations and oral/written communication skills.
  • Familiarization with State's drinking water and wastewater regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations on confined space, and others.
  • Within in six month of employment need to achieve Water Distribution and Water Treatment Provisional State Certification.
  • Must be familiar with standard plumbing, tools and equipment. Assortment of hand tools, power tools, and electrical tools.
  • A working knowledge of sanitation and other pollution control facilities; e.g., water wells, water storage tanks, water treatment and distribution systems, pumping equipment, sewage collection and treatment systems, and solid waste disposal operations.
  • Ability to effectively utilize computer and data management systems.
  • Ability to communicate in Yupik and Athabascan. (Desirable)
