Job Information

Tear-down, evaluate and prepare materials for reassembly and reassemble machines active in the remanufacturing program and/or update existing units including breakers to repair or add features

Role & Responsibility

Principal Responsibilities

Disassembly of air compressors, generators, and breakers.

Assembly of air compressors, generators, and breakers.

Assure units are built correctly (to the Bill of Material).

Removal of used parts in a manner that preserves the part for future use.

Cleaning salvaged parts using chemicals and pressure washer.

Loading and unloading reman vendors.

Document information concisely and correctly.

Work with Quality and Engineering in troubleshooting issues.

Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or work instruction.

Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with safety rules and regulations.

Performs overtime work as required.

Keeps area clean and organized.

Assists in the instruction and training of others as requested by supervisor.

To perform other duties that is assigned by the supervisor.

Must have strong mechanical aptitude and experience and be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly. Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements. Must possess the ability to read build sheets and blueprints. Must have ability to measure clearances using appropriate tools and devices. The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or GED. Must have good communication skills. Familiarity with CAT, Cummins, and John Deer diesel engines. Familiarity with the operation and parts of diesel engines. Ability to fabricate parts when necessary using measurements and specifications. Must be very safety conscious and comfortable working with large heavy parts, tools and equipment. Must be comfortable operating fork lifts, tractors, excavators, hoists, and cutting torches. Familiarity with MIG and TIG welding.

Work is performed in both a shop and outside

environment. Conditions include

proximity to very heavy, moving and mechanical parts, exposure to high noise

levels requiring the use of hearing protection and exposure to vibration

through the use of tools and equipment.

Can be physically demanding.

Subject to air and skin exposures to chemical hazards and atmospheric

conditions that may affect the respiratory system such as fumes, odors, dusts,

mists and gases. Required to wear

personal protective equipment.
