An American Company is seeking a Release Train Engineer in Richmond, VA.

Role Description

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) position is a Scrum Master lead position that provides oversight across one of our IT programs. Responsibilities include coaching and educating the team(s) in agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban, utilizing the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), ensuring that the agreed upon process is followed and that updates and communications occur to relevant stakeholders. The RTE provides thought leadership and works with business stakeholders to ensure that planning activities occur efficiently and effectively. They also help identify and remove impediments and implement improvement strategies, relentlessly fostering an environment of high performing teams and continuous flow.

• Manage and optimize the flow of value through the program and/or Agile Release Train (ART) using various tools
• Establish annual schedule for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs), aligning with the enterprise portfolio and other programs/trains as applicable
• Facilitate PI Planning business readiness that produces business context, a roadmap and backlog(s)
• Facilitate PI Planning technology readiness that produces the architecture briefing and applicable solution context
• Facilitate PI Planning event that results in key planning outputs such as draft PI objectives, capacity plans, potential risks and dependencies at the program and/or ART level
• Summarize Team and PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency
• Assist tracking the execution of features and/or capabilities
• Assist with funding decision making by facilitating value and estimating discussions
• Coach leaders, teams and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile mindsets and practices
• Help manage risks and dependencies
• Provide input on resourcing to address critical issues
• Work with relevant business and technology stakeholders to ensure strategy and execution alignment
• Help define and work within the portfolio, program and team budgetary practices
• Foster Communities of Practice and use of engineering, DevOps and built-in quality practices

Skills & Requirements

• Must demonstrated experience performing the Release Train Engineer (RTE) role in a complex technical environment using
• 10+ of related program, project, scrum master, release train engineer (RTE) or Agile experience
• 3+ year Agile Software Development experience
• SAFe
• Experience with Program Increment Planning and Prioritization in an organization using SAFe

Preferred
• Experience in leading teams through an agile transformation effort
• SAFe Agilest (SA) or SAFe Program Consultant SPC Certification
• Proficient in JIRA and Confluence
