Job Description

The Real Estate Paralegal is responsible for managing a portion of the real estate portfolio for the company's North America market. In addition to handling theday-to-day responsibilities for thatportfolio, the Real Estate Paralegalwill also provide some support to the Assistant General Counsel - Litigation.

  • Manages a portion of the company's real estate activities; assists with identifying, acquiring, and leasing facilities for company operations.
  • Negotiates and approves new leases, subleases, lease renewals and modifications.
  • Monitors lease terms, updates lease records, and assists the optimization of corporate real estate assets.
  • Works with Assistant General Counsel, Litigation to manage various parts of the litigation and claims processes, primarily in the area of commercial disputes.
  • Responds to discovery requests, subpoenas, and other duties as assigned by the Assistant General Counsel, Litigation. Works closely with outside counsel and internal businesses.
  • Participates in special projects and performs legal research when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (Required)
  • 5 to 7 years of related work experience (Required)
  • Familiarity with Litigation and/or Real Estate matters from a paralegal perspective. (Required)
  • In-house legal department experience preferred. (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Paralegal Certificate or undergraduate degree from an ABA-approved college or university. (Required)
  • Notary Public (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, negotiation and reasoning skills
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others and coordinate a variety of internal and external activities having significance to the company
  • Ability to manage issues and workload independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
Computer Skills
  • MS Office (Word, Excel), Outlook, Internet Explorer, Adobe Acrobat - Intermediate user proficiency
