Responsibilities

How Will You Contribute to the Company?

The R&D Engineer is responsible for validating and verifying firmware and software functionality, features, and performance in Cradlepoint's routers, modems, and web-based SaaS management platforms. The success of Cradlepoint's products is largely determined by their ease of use, effectiveness, and ability to eliminate potential errors.

The R&D Engineer works collaboratively within Carrier Engineering to provide test and troubleshooting results and provides efficient and effective test system solutions. The successful candidate will enjoy working for an innovative company with smart, passionate people who work hard, have fun, and are invested in the success of Cradlepoint and its future!

What Will You Do?

  • Develop, execute and maintain test systems and processes to ensure complete test coverage of cellular router technologies
  • Seek out defects in the team's firmware and software to achieve the highest quality functionality on hardware platforms
  • Capture appropriate defect information to support the resolution of test and functional issues
  • Provide support to internal and external customers for the resolution of customer and internal issues
  • Document results, monitor trends and outcomes
Qualifications

Minimum Qualfications:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma
  • Minimum one (1) year of industry experience testing routers, networks, and/or web-based applications, with emphasis on firmware testing and validation
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work successfully with technical and non-technical people
  • Ability to work within a team, as well as independently
  • Ability to respond quickly and accurately to diverse requests
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Committed to developing, improving, and documenting test processes
  • Willingness to step into any task in support of the group
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux
  • Understanding and practice of Quality Assurance methodologies

Bonus Points:
  • Education related to Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Familiarity with cellular modems/networks
  • Scripting experience in Python
  • Previous QA and/or test lab experience
  • Experience in global cultural awareness and sensitivity

Compensation and Benefits at Cradlepoint

At Cradlepoint, we know that our people are the key to our success. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package to help with your individual needs and goals.

Your Pay:

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. This variable pay opportunity is dependent upon the attainment of agreed to goals and objectives as determined by Cradlepoint's Senior Leadership team. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Cradlepoint provides generous paid time off, including: 15 days of Flexible Time Off (FTO), four paid quarterly well-being days, and 11 paid annual holidays (includes nine company holidays and up to two floating holidays). Please note that an employee's FTO balance and floating holidays may be prorated in the first year, based on start date. Cradlepoint also offers paid maternity-leave benefits and six weeks 100% paid family leave for all employees.
