The School of Nursing has a great opportunity for a Quality Assurance Auditor to work at the Coral Gables Campus.

The Quality Assurance Auditor conducts routine and focused audits of human subject research protocols to ensure compliance with federal and local regulations and guidelines, and research site specific standard operating procedures. The incumbent on this position advises appropriate institutional officials of deficiencies and recommends necessary corrective actions, with follow up to ensure that needed actions have been implemented.

Core Job Functions

  • Remains in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and extramural agencies' requirements, and conducts inquiries of laboratory and research protocols.
  • Prepares reports of investigations and inquiries for internal or external use. Assists with the preparation of educational programs and presents them to groups and individuals in the University's research community.
  • Monitors new legislation or changes in regulations that might affect the University's compliance in conducting research and recommends changes to administrative policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of internal policies and standard operating procedures, as well as University-wide policies intended to assist University researchers in maintaining compliance with research standards and guidelines.
  • Maintains quality assurance related databases, and electronic and paper audit files.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Assist Investigator(s) in reviewing and revising study operating procedures
  • Verify compliance with protocol and study regulatory binder
  • Review IRB protocols for departmental review
  • Minimize potential protocol deviations
  • Support grant proposals (formatting, refs, environment/resources, letters of support)
  • Drafting letters of support/recommendations for individuals

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in relevant field

Experience:

Minimum 1 - 2 year of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office)
  • Experience with performing audits and reviews
  • Familiar with research and protocols
  • Familiar with the IRB process
