PURPOSE: Responsible for Inspection and Quality Assurance in areas as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Promote an atmosphere of continuous process and employee improvement.
  • Enforce quality standards in all facets of the assigned areas.
  • Identify and tag all non-conforming items discovered.
  • Perform employee, work center, and piece check audits, as required.
  • Follow all significant product, document and process changes which affect quality.
  • Maintain quality records as required.
  • Work with the departmental supervision in developing and maintaining a trained work force.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, and Research and Development in the Design, Introduction, Inspection and Maintenance of new and existing equipment.
  • Maintain employee quality performance records and submit information for consideration in the Quality merit rating.
  • Act as the first line of diagnosis and repair of machines tagged as non-conforming.
  • Promote a safe work environment.
  • Assume responsibility for Inspection and Quality Assurance on assembly lines, assembly areas, or off-line areas, depending upon departmental needs and personal experience.
  • Aid in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of machines designated for repair.
  • Reports to the Quality Assurance Group Leader.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company's 2025 Strategy.


BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Vocational Training and 5+ years experience required; or GED with 7+ years in related field. (but does not require a university degree).
  • Able to communicate and deal well with every level of our organization.
  • Excellent people skills, oral and written communication, organizational, and motivational skills.
  • Able to interpret specifications and effectively inspect components, assemblies and sub-assemblies based upon the specifications.
  • Familiar with basic inspection tools and procedures.
  • Familiar with ISO procedures as they apply to manufacturing.
  • Skilled in equipment and/or electronics troubleshooting is desirable.
  • Additional technical training in the Quality Assurance field is highly desirable.
  • Basic working knowledge of the SAP system.
  • Additional training on Personal Computers highly desirable.
  • Excellent attendance, safety and work record.
  • Basic knowledge of Statistical Process Control, including Pre-control and Process capability extremely useful.
  • Capable of frequent standing, sitting and rarely lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work rotating shifts, if required by the business.
  • Completes a variety of atypical assignments
  • Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments
  • Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments
  • Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience
