*This position will be based in El Paso, TX, and temporarily eligible for Work from Home. When our office reopens, you will be required to work from the office Monday-Friday.

What you will be doing:

The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for leading all aspects of the daily responsibility of the Purchasing staff performance for all domestic business units and some international locations. Works closely with the Purchasing Manager to establish controls that are aligned with the purchasing policy and procedures. Supervises the settlement of maintenance, repair and operating materials as agreed by the Procurement Agent. Coordinates the RFP and RFQ process and makes recommendation to the Purchasing Manager and Upper management for final decision and approval. Supervises the creation of the vendor master and purchase order creations (of up to $25K). Assists the Purchasing Manager with Capital Expenditure Requests. Administrator for ecommerce procurement systems. Prepares month-end reports and distributes timely to pertinent employees. Ensures that the needs of the Oracle ERP system users and internal / external customers are fulfilled both efficiently and optimally. Prepares quarterly and annual audit reports for Internal Audit. Supervises the credit card purchases made by the Purchasing Associate.


  • Verifies requisitions and purchase orders for conformance to company. Reviews requisitions for accurate GL account codes and for correct signature approvals. Reviews contracts, bids, proposals and vendor agreements for price and acceptability of items to specifications

  • Works closely with the Purchasing Assistant and distribution center to provide assistance and help with inquires

  • Researches and communicates all order issues with Accounts Payable and other department users. Assists with invoice, receipt and purchase order reconciliations

  • Advises the gathering of materials requested by the Purchasing Manager, prepares packets of samples and submits samples with bid request to vendors. Helps settle pricing of annual bids for, but not limited to, janitorial supplies, warehouse packing materials, corrugated boxes, office supplies, printing, office and warehouse equipment

  • Advises the recruiting and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with quality control personnel, receiving personnel, users, vendors and others to resolve source of trouble and take corrective action

  • Leads vehicle maintenance in Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee

  • Approves time cards via ADP, and performs actual work similar to other employees, conducts performance appraisals, counsel employees, recommends the authority to hire, fire, set pay rate, etc

  • Administrator for Staples Advantage ecommerce

  • Administrator for Amazon Business Account

  • Leads the Purchasing Associates

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in related field

  • 5+ years supervisory experience in purchasing

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with all levels of an organization

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency using Excel, Word and Power Point

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
