Position Summary

The project director position is part of the civil leadership team responsible for successful management of Bristol Bay Construction Holdings (BBCH) civil business line. In coordination with functional teams within BBCH and SCL, the project director has responsibility for business development, proposal development, cost estimating, bid reviews, client negotiations, and management of clients, programs, and projects. Provides overall direction to a project or group of projects of considerable size, scope and complexity. Ensures the accurate completion of all work products, proper quality control / quality assurance measures are in place consistent with corporate guidelines, and work procedures are performed in a safe manner. Responsible for management and oversight of self-perform projects and work performed by subconsultants and subcontractors. Responsible for the overall financial performance relative to project-specific budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with project leaders to determine staffing and scheduling requirements, project budget and delivery schedules.
  • Interfaces with other internal or external units to enhance process or organizational effectiveness as required.
  • Oversees/prepares technical, sales or administrative presentations and proposals.
  • Ensures project quality control.
  • Prepares and/or reviews project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Supervises, trains, evaluates, and directs professional, technical and support staff.
  • Monitors project functions, including short and long-term goals and objectives, coordinate project related activities.
  • Manages project budget through familiarity of internal accounting system.
  • Demonstrates consistent/exemplary safety compliance.
  • Manages complex, multi-disciplinary projects that contain technical and financial risk and/or present significant management challenges.
  • Administer contracts for heavy civil and marine construction, and demolition.
  • Federal (DOD and DOE) and Non-Federal Project Experience.
  • Business Development
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in Design, Construction, and Demolition
  • 10+ years of Project Management experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline or Construction Management required.
  • USACE QC Training preferred.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer by a state licensing board following NCEES Model Law is preferred.
  • Organization, written communication, and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to work constructively in diverse teams including engineers, technicians, and construction personnel.
  • Must be willing to travel on an as-needed basis up to 25% of the time.
  • Must possess valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about. Near visual acuity to review documentation, ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels. Must maintain a constant state of mental alertness at all times. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Working Environments

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting.
