Work Performed

Provide support and coordination for the Department of Pediatrics Research Mission and Programs.

  • Plan, coordinate and administer activities of the Pediatric Research Office programs with program leadership, including development and coordination of faculty development conferences, development, and implementation of standard procedures to support research office programs, facilitation of communication across programs and initiatives, and management of award/recognition initiatives.
  • Manage and coordinate meetings, convenings, and seminars for the Vice Chair of Research, including scheduling and creating agendas for meetings, setting appointments for the Vice Chair, and organizing educational seminars and the annual Departmental Research Retreat.
  • Provide support, including calendar management and coordination of meetings, convenings, and seminars for the Duke Pediatric Research Scholars (DPRS) Program for Medical Residents and Fellows, Duke Children's Clinical Research Unit (CCRU) and Duke Center for Childhood Obesity Research (DCCOR).
  • Manage administration of departmental grants and seed funding programs, including calls for proposals, application review processes, and award management, including progress reports and stewardship reports for Duke Development.
  • Write operations and financial reports to share with research teams.
  • Develop and manage research mentoring initiatives for the Vice Chair of Research and the DPRS Program, working closely with division chiefs, mentors, and mentees.
  • Assist in research administration tasks, including preparing data and research materials for presentations and communications, and tracking metrics using various databases in REDCap, Qualtrics, Excel, Faculty Development System, etc.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Education/Training Job Requirements:

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. A Masters level degree is preferred.

Minimum Experience Job Requirements:

Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events. ORAN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT ED UCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Preference will be given to candidates with three years of experience in program administration involving academic education or research. A background in biomedical research is preferred.

Preferred skills:

· Ability to work in a dynamic role in a collaborative team setting

· Ability to take direction and feedback from multiple stakeholders and prioritize competing tasks

· Facilitate program development and evaluation, including setting standards and goals and monitoring performance.

· Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of various solutions to problems.

· Coordinate processes across multiple programs

· Analyze and synthesize findings, communicating results to multiple stakeholder groups.

· Form and communicate action plans based on analysis of program results and stakeholder feedback

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with experience working in Excel.
