Location: Detroit, MI
Salary: $90,000.00 USD Annually - $110,000.00 USD Annually
Description:
Our client is seeking a Production Manager for their plant in Detroit, MI. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of plant production, overseeing employee scheduling, and managing various processing and filling systems. The role involves directing plant personnel, conducting equipment training, and collaborating with cross-functional teams for quality and safety. the PM plays a key role in the overall management team and is involved in daily plant start-up, resource identification, and system improvements. This position requires experience with unionized production workers, knowledge of dairy plant management, and familiarity with quality and safety standards (HACCP, SQF, ISO 14001, OSHA, EMS).

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee plant production, scheduling, and equipment operations.
• Direct and train plant personnel on equipment usage and operating procedures.
• Collaborate with the Quality Systems manager on environmental quality, product quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Act as a member of the Safety Committee and work with unionized production workers.
• Report directly to the Plant Manager and Assistant Plant Manager, with direct access to the President.

General Requirements:

• Experience in dairy plant management and a minimum of three years of management experience in food manufacturing.
• Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, ISO 14001, OSHA, EMS standards.
• Ability to troubleshoot processing and filling systems, conduct equipment repairs, and ensure production efficiency.
• Familiarity with the entire product flow within the facility.
  
• Willingness to spend at least three weeks equivalent per year on night shifts to understand personnel and operations.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to handle difficult situations diplomatically.
• Availability to respond to emergencies or unexpected operational requirements, including nights, weekends, or holidays.

Requirements:

• Degree Preferred or two years of college/trade school w/equivalent experience in a production-related field.
• HACCP and SQF experience
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively
  
• Positive outlook, ability to work collaboratively, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities when needed.
