Primary Job Purpose

The Product Marketing Manager II facilitates end-to-end go-to-market activities for new health plan product rollouts and existing product sustainment. Supports products for various brands, lines of business, and state-based markets.

Serves as the intersection between the Product Development team and internal/external partners, stakeholders, and support staff in areas such as Marketing, Strategic Communications, and Sales. Responsible for effectively communicating the features, benefits and unique selling proposition of products and services to achieve targeted department goals.

Directly supports membership acquisition and retention goals through developing and/or executing effective product sales strategy and tactics, channel management and support, product training and the ongoing management and coordination of retention and communication touch points across each market.

General Functions and Outcomes

  • Works closely with Product Managers to understand and effectively communicate the features, benefits, and unique selling proposition of products and services.
  • Coordinates the development of marketing collateral, sales support materials, internal sales trainings and external presentations to brokers, employer groups, consultants and others with the goal of accurate representation both internally and externally.
  • Maintains and tracks product resource materials to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information to Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and other internal departments as well as tracking content on our public websites for Producers, Employers and Members.
  • Supports ongoing product marketing and communication sustainment throughout the product lifecycle.
  • As a senior business partner with other leaders in Product and Sales, creates marketing launch strategies and plans for the most critical and high profile lines of business.
  • Develops and oversees execution of highly visible launch plans that include cost-effective strategies and tactics to achieve marketing and sales goals.
  • Provides marketing consultation to marketing and sales divisions for senior level projects.
  • Collaborates with Sales to deliver relevant Sales tools to accelerate membership acquisition and support retention efforts.
  • Develops and delivers all marketing training and education efforts among cross-functional Sales and Internal Business teams in driving consistent audience interaction relative to all campaign communications and brand awareness activities.
  • Responsible for product launch sales distribution strategies.
  • Ensure brand messaging is incorporated into all projects, and all projects are aligned with marketing and sales strategies.


Minimum Requirements
  • Demonstrated business aptitude and general understanding of the healthcare, health insurance, and/or employee benefits industry.
  • Knowledge of product marketing/go-to-market principles and track record of creating successful product marketing/go-to-market communications, campaigns, and/or strategies that balance consumer needs, business goals, and relevant constraints.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience in crafting concise, relevant and compelling communications in a variety of formats for diverse audiences, including executive-level documents and presentations.
  • Effective project management skills including planning, organizing and administration of multi-functional work responsibilities. Proven ability to manage multiple, diverse and/or complex projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work within diverse cross-functional teams and/or operate independently to navigate highly complex and sensitive organizational issues with diplomacy and persuasiveness.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office products (specifically PowerPoint) and other corporate software as required.
  • Advanced knowledge of health insurance products, programs and delivery channels, marketing and sales processes, industry terminology, rating methodologies, financing mechanism, operational flow and data requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills in order to quantify market opportunities and measure effectiveness and ROI of product marketing/go-to-market activities.
  • Proven ability to analyze, organize and use complex product information to support organizational and product value propositions for multiple audiences across multiple mediums.
  • Highly proficient in traditional and non-traditional media and marketing communication strategies, tactics, vehicles and ROI measurement.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to synthesize information received verbally or in written form. Ability to write and make executive level presentations.
  • Demonstrated innovation tied to execution and understanding of the operational implications of launching products as well as the political and public impacts associated with multi-market product launches and campaign management.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead and mentor other product go-to-market team members.


Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above

The Product Marketing Manager will have a BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or relevant field, and 8+ years of experience in marketing, marketing communications, sales, field support, or product management with 3-4 years of experience in healthcare or insurance industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment
  • May be required to work outside normal working hours
  • Some travel (>10%) may be required. May include travel to market offices across regional area as necessary, or occasional participation and attendance at sales and marketing events that occur during the evening or weekends
