Michelin North America, Inc., which employs over 22,000 people and operates multiple tire manufacturing facilities, is seeking an Engineer with a passion for Innovation and Design to join its Michelin Americas Research and Development Center, located in Greenville, South Carolina.

Mission

The Product Design & Industrialization Engineer's mission is prepare new tire designs for mass production that meet product and industrial performances for Original Equipment and Replacement markets. The position offers a balance of technical design and industrial competencies, with dynamic levels of responsibilities. Initial training will include formal classes and on-the-job mentoring under an expert engineer.

With a collaborative design team, co-develop tire models which meet expectations for customer and translates innovation into manufacturing specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Define the technical specifications to manufacture tire models, meeting performance targets while accounting for industrial standards and constraints.
  • Identify and manage the associated risks for meeting the quality, timing, and cost targets of the industrialized tire.
  • Provide technical support to the factories, throughout the tire life cycle, to ensure design robustness.
  • Continuously improve the tire design and manufacturing process, applying tools like root cause analysis, prototyping through the creation and deployment of new or updated tools and work methods.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Associate Technical Degree plus 5 years in a related technical position
  • Ability to work in multiple computer systems and applications (including 2-Dimension CAD system)
  • Methodical problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills in a multi-functional environment
  • Opportunity to travel to multiple facilities in North America and other geographic zones (Europe, Asia, South America)
