TES Process Automation Packaging & Specialty Plastics Business Focused Team is seeking a highly motivated Process Automation Engineer, supporting our P&SP technologies. The location of this role will be based in Freeport, TX.

About you

As a Process Automation Engineer at Dow, you will apply technical knowledge by providing automation solutions for the chemical process equipment involved, work process, unit operations, operating condition or process technology improvements. You will also support intermediate projects, or portions of the process automation design within larger capital projects. Dow is currently investing heavily into these facilities, and we need someone who has a passion for implementing automation solutions to improve plant safety, sustainability and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for tasks such as those listed below when equipment or instruments are being added, removed, or changed.
  • This role is also involved in Safety Integrity Level (SIL) determination, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and designing or modifying the basic process control system (BPCS).
  • Design the control strategy and implement the solution.
  • Participate in project scoping activities.
  • Provide effective communication and coordination between project team and Operations.
  • Develop control software, operator graphics and simulation software.
  • Develop and conduct process automation training for applicable personnel
  • Ensure safe and effective Commissioning, Start Up, and transfer to Operations process.
  • Drive strategic solutions in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Identify and deploy Most Effective Technology (MET) standard solution components to meet project requirements.
  • Proactively seek improvement opportunities that promote greater safety, reliability, and productivity.
  • Support future process improvements and product development/solution roadmap.
  • Participate in Global Networks to identify and develop new technology for the business.
  • Participate regularly on multi-functional teams to develop innovative automation solutions
  • Engage in projects in different geographies / locations

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% annually (domestic and international) and meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, public-health mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries world wide
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Your Preferred Qualifications include:

  • 2 years of experience in process automation, engineering, manufacturing, or related experience.
  • Knowledgeable with one or more process control platforms (ABB, Siemens, MOD5, Emerson, DeltaV, Foxboro, Honeywell).
