Hagerty's Preparedness Division supports public and private sector organizations' efforts to become better prepared and more resilient in the face of disasters through planning, training, and exercises. The Preparedness Division's efforts may include implementing capability and risk assessments, community impact analyses, after-action reporting, accreditation support, emergency/crisis management plan development, program implementation, and training and exercises.
To help support our growing portfolio of work, we are looking for a mid-level professional to join the Preparedness Division with a focus on critical infrastructure sectors. This individual will develop and refine deliverables, coordinate with clients and colleagues, and contribute to energy sector thought leadership and business development efforts with limited supervisory oversight.
Location:
Candidates must be willing to work full-time on site in Los Angeles, CA, San Diego, or the Bay area.
Responsibilities:

  • Supporting project initiatives for federal, state, local, tribal, and/or private sector clients related to emergency management and homeland security, including assessments, plans, training, exercises, and evaluations.
  • Contributing to the development of tools, approaches, and resources to help build and share expertise across projects, geographies, and focus areas.
  • Supporting project management activities by mentoring and coaching direct reports and peers, resource planning, and monitoring compliance with project controls and requirements.
  • Contributing to the maturation of the Division's service lines, including identifying emerging issues and trends where Hagerty may be able to support new and prospective clients.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Three or more years of experience in emergency management, economic development resilience, public health, critical infrastructure, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication skills (writing prompt is required as part of the interview process).
  • Proven ability to conduct polished business development, provide excellent customer service, and maintain client/professional relationships/partnerships.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Able to remain calm and poised under pressure, work successfully on multiple priorities simultaneously, and remain focused when working under tight deadlines.
  • Consulting experience at the federal, state, local level of government, universities and/or private section.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Understanding of emergency management concepts.
  • Knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Incident Command System (ICS), the National Response Framework (NRF), National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF), and other preparedness guidance documents and policies.
