West Virginia University Research Corporation Department of Physics & Astronomy is currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate.

About the Opportunity
As a Postdoctoral Research Associate, you will work on cutting-edge problems in quantum condensed matter physics, which will make WVU competitive in securing federal research grants. They will perform research in computational condensed matter physics. The skillset requires a Ph.D. in Physics, chemistry, or materials science. Advanced knowledge of computational approaches based on the conventional density functional theory (DFT) or beyond-DFT method is required for performing research on the topic of computational quantum materials science.

What you’ll do:
  • Perform computational research on condensed matter physics.
  • Analyze results and publish them in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present the results in national and international conferences and workshops.


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science
  • Advanced knowledge of computational approaches that go beyond the conventional density functional theory is required for performing research on the topic of computational quantum materials science.
  • Experience with first -principles density functional theory (DFT) is essential, and a background in dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) and/or machine learning is desirable.
  • A Ph.D. in the physical sciences (Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science) is required and experience with programming (such as Python) is expected.
  • Advanced knowledge of computational approaches that go beyond the conventional density functional theory is required for performing research on the topic of computational quantum materials science.
  • Doctoral research work
