As a Plant Engineer, you will focus on process improvements that directly impact Rehrig Pacific•s key metrics of Safer, Better, Faster, and Cheaper. Engineers need to be safety driven and dedicated to the continuous improvement of the production processes that yield quality products efficiently and competitively.

Plant Engineers are responsible for putting safety first and foremost above all other duties. They will work with the local Safety Manager and Safety Team to ensure safety improvements are addressed efficiently and in accordance with all OSHA and plant regulations.

Our Engineers also play an important role in ensuring that the Customer receives a quality product according to their expectations by leading cross functional teams that evaluate and implement the correct processes, procedures, and training in a timely manner.

Lastly, PE•s play an important role in ensuring existing and new processes are performing efficiently and effectively. This is done through the use of standard methods such as the A3 process and Kaizan (Improvement) events. If a process improvement is required, the PE will develop the improvement plan and see it through to completion utilizing the necessary resources.

This position allows you to interact with the many facets of Rehrig Pacific which will give you a broad understanding of the company structure. POSITION: Plant Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

A Plant Engineer is responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements that foster a safe work environment and provide a quality product to the customer efficiently and economically.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with others and manage Engineering responsibilities associated with safety and process improvements.
  • Management Capital and Non Capital improvement projects including new equipment installs, cell improvements, etc.
  • Lead cross departmental teams to implement process improvements.
  • Evaluate current processes, equipment, and procedures to determine if they are performing efficiently.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and develop correct actions.
  • Develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of plant systems through active projects, cross departmental training, and OEM training.
  • Create SOP•s/Work Instructions and train employees to ensure efficient project handoffs.
  • Provide technical support for all departments when called upon.
  • Develop a working knowledge of new technology through research.
  • Participate in the 4 week Cross Departmental Training program.
  • Advance through the Engineering Development Program.
  • Complete additional assigned tasks in a timely manner.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • BS Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Preferred)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Engineering Internship with hands on experience in the Plastics Industry.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Relevant Industry work experience with Injection Molding Processes.
  • Knowledge of Lean Concepts.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power equipment, and machine shop equipment. Welding and general machining experience a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills a plus.
  • Able to travel to customer and vendor locations as well as other Rehrig Plants.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 hour training a plus.
Plant Engineers have two primary responsibilities: First, always put Safety and Customer Satisfaction as their top priority. Second, serve as the technical resource center for all plant activities by staying current on new technologies and equipment and acquiring an in depth knowledge of all plant processes and equipment.
