Position Information: Description

This position will support the new Online Counseling M.A. At the core of this program is clinical experience necessary for licensure.  As the program continues grow and attract students across U.S. states the work of managing and supporting local-to-students clinical placements becomes more complex and demanding. Therefore, the master’s program requires greater capacity and time for managing placements and supporting students in preparing for placements. In addition, a new requirement requires that programs provide disclosures to prospective and current students about the licensure requirements in different states and the ability of students to meet those requirements through this program. The Placement and Licensure Coordinator will support the online and on-campus master’s program.

Duties & Responsibilities

Identify, manage, and maintain clinical placement sites, locally and in other states

    Consult with Faculty to determine faculty preferences for student placements based on needs in the community and student goals/requirements/needs Disperse Practicum/Internship Application Information to students, faculty, etc. and provide ongoing announcements as neededManage required paperwork, agreements, and trackingIdentify and develop new placement sites in student communities (online and local)Manage student placement changes across the year Manage relationships skillfully to maintain ongoing relationships with sites and supervisors  Engage in an ongoing vetting process of sites and supervisors (digitally or in-person)
Support students in placement preparation & expectations
    Work with faculty as needed for preliminary training and orientation to the role, and over time to address programmatic needs.  Meet with students as needed, formally and informally, to provide information, education, and guidance prior to placement.  Formal activities this person may organize/offer:  CV & cover letter review; conduct mock-interviews, coordinate “Supervisor’s Day.”Develop Materials (hard copy and virtual) to enhance student Practicum/Internship experiences and ability to successfully navigate the application processCreate & maintain a Blackboard orientation site
Identify and maintain licensure disclosure statements.Review and update state/province licensure requirements on an annual basis;Analyze and update licensure disclosure list annually or as neededHelp students understand what type of site(s) they will need to apply to as per licensing restrictions for their state/province and their specialty trackReview the list of potential sites as need that students create to vet them accordingly, and to ensure they are appropriate sites for the students as per their licensing and specialty track needs  Required Competencies
  • Candidate has the knowledge, experience, and training to successfully navigate the placement application, interview, and placement process  
  • Strong professional awareness of Practicum/Internship interview processes
  • Preliminary knowledge of general licensure requirements for counseling and ability to navigate resources for each state/province/territory and specialty counseling tracks and to advise students
  • Strong focus on multiculturalism and social justice orientation
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Strong organization skills, conscientiousness, and attention to detail
  • Strong ability to utilize relevant technology and software proficiently 
  • Ability to travel to internship sites
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Counseling, Psychology or Related Field (M.S. in Clinical Psychology, M.Ed. in Counseling, Ph.D in Counseling psychology, etc.) 
  • Candidate has completed a Practicum and Internship in counseling/psychology 
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check

Preferred Qualifications
    License and/or pursuing licensure, and/or has knowledge of the general licensing process and the typical requirements for each state/province/territory.
Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$50,000 Annual, Full-Time, Exempt, Benefited
