Minimum Requirements
-Master's Degree
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support(ACLS)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Licensed Physicians Assistant (PA)
- 1 - 3 years of experience required

da Vinci® Surgical System experience is preferred.

General Summary:

Works in team structure, to provide following:

1. Performs duties of surgical physician assistant.

2. Provides surgical assistance in Operating Room (OR), as assigned by PA Coordinator or designee; performs daily post-operative rounds and follow-up with attending surgeon; performs admission history and physical examinations, daily progress notes, daily orders, and discharge summaries for patients admitted to them by attending surgeon; evaluates patients in Emergency Center and on surgical floor at request of attending surgeon.

3.Writes history and physical exams, orders, daily progress notes, and facilitates and coordinates care of patient, as requested by supervising physician; may dictate discharge, transfer and death summaries, and write transfer orders and prescriptions, as requested by supervising physician.

4. Performs bedside procedures, including central venous catheter placement, tube thoracostomy, arterial catheter placement, and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), when credentialed to perform said procedures.

5. Supports quality initiatives of Holy Cross Health, including medication reconciliation, universal time-out procedures, Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP), venous thromboembolism (VTE) prevention, and electronic documentation.

6. Supports timely, accurate and compliant professional billing.

Minimum Licensure & Certification Required (if applicable):

1. Must maintain current licensing as Physician Assistant (PA) in State of Maryland.

2. Must qualify for prescriptive authority.

3. Must have and maintainBLS Healthcare Provider and ACLS Provider certification from American Heart Association.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

1. Must have ability to work in both OR and inpatient units.

2. Must possess excellent communication skills and function well in team environment.

3. Must be proficient or capable of becoming proficient in bedside procedures, including central line and A-line placement, chest tube placement, and PICC insertion.

Working Conditions:

1. Hospital based position; must have endurance for long procedures in OR, and possess clinical skills and critical thinking to manage acutely and severely ill patients.

2. Weekends, nights and on-call hours required.
