DESCRIPTION:

This job requires the ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific-technical instructions as well as technical journals to prepare, and perform standard practices, procedures, and protocols on Mohawk Flooring Products. The technician is responsible for the physical testing, data collection, completing appropriate logbooks, spreadsheets, and test reports.

Perform physical testing on products to assess the following:

  • Tuft Bind
  • Delamination
  • Static Propensity
  • Flammability Properties
  • Face Weight by Chemical Dissolving
  • Dimensional Stability
  • Dry Breaking Strength
  • Perform verifications and calibrations as described in specific test methods.
  • Follow all safety rules and precautions as specified by the Company
  • Attend any training classes or seminars relating to the specific job, department, or company requirements as specified by management
  • Transport test samples between various sites or facilities.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Perform any miscellaneous work or job task as specified by supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of color science/basic math functions
  • Use of computer applications such as Excel spreadsheets, AS400, Lotus Notes
  • 1-3 years in a related area.
  • Must have knowledge of mathematical concepts, and the ability to define problems, collect data, draw valid conclusions based on factual data.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently
  • Must be organized with high attention to detail
  • Must be able to recognize sensitive data and treat it as confidential.
  • Must have good communication skills both oral and written.
