Description:


  • btains blood specimens by skin puncture or venipuncture using

    appropriate technique, which maintains the quality integrity of the

    specimen to ensure valid test results. Correctly performs and transmits

    electrocardiograms for interpretation. Maintains a safe, neat & orderly

    work environment.

    Communicates effectively and respectfully with patients and family

    members to meet their needs during phlebotomy and EKG procedures.

    Correctly identifies patients prior to phlebotomy. Provides clear

    instructions to patients for patient collected (non-blood)specimens.

    Consistently maintains patient confidentiality.

    Correctly releases tests ordered by physicians in EPIC using order

    release guidelines and/or accurately enters test orders from manual

    requisitions. Accurately enters phlebotomy and EKG charges.

    Maintains awareness of and adheres to all regulatory requirements

    (CLIA, CAP, IDPH, Joint Commission, etc.)

    Participates in departmental quality improvement activities as directed

    by supervisor/manager. Utilizes time and resources effectively to

    promote quality, cost-effective outcomes.
