Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

Assists in the provision of pharmaceutical care to various customers under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Practices within the scope of state and federal regulations.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be registered with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy. College level certificate or bachelor's degree preferred.

1 year of experience as a pharmacy tech preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Assists the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions, which includes various material resource management, dispensing, clerical, and billing duties. Revenue management: ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.

Participates in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities. Understands the limitations to performing certain responsibilities of a registered technician in dispensing medications. Transports medications to patient rooms or nursing medication rooms. Retrieves unused medications from patient rooms or nursing areas. Excellent communication skills. Ability to create and foster a cooperative team work environment. Able to readily adapt to institutional roles and schedules.
