The Pharmacy Department at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Buyer at the UTower Hospital. The Pharmacy Buyer coordinates the medication procurement process and maintains inventory stock levels and related paperwork. Additionally, the incumbent ensures appropriate dating of medications for the inpatient and outpatient pharmacies.

Procures, receives, and administers the inventory of controlled pharmaceuticals, and communicates shortages of medications or changes in stock availability to appropriate pharmacy staff. Alerts leadership of changes in buying trends, including any unusual use of drugs. Purchases all pharmaceuticals for the assigned pharmacies and participates in continuous quality improvement. Receives and verifies shipments from vendors and suppliers. Keeps abreast of contract changes and prepares vendor shipment returns. Maintains appropriate inventory levels of drugs and supplies and controls inventory to meet established budgetary constraints. Coordinates disposal of all expired medication and maintains invoicing for all drug and supply accounts. Prepares department for annual inventory which includes updating shelf labels, inventory supply forms, and databases. Carries out rules and regulations pertaining to the professional policies of the department and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field

Certification and Licensing:

Active FL Registered Pharmacy Technician License

Experience:

Minimum 3 year of relevant experience

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
