Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Senior Applications Analyst/Project Manager provides outstanding customer centric support for primary application/s assigned. This position meets regularly with customers to identify issues that require remedy, either through reporting, screen changes, additional data fields or vendor customization.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate system requirements in order to understand processing and prepare high-level flow chart for each system.
  • Provides project methodology guidance and advice to all levels of business users and all levels of technical staff.
  • Provides outstanding customer centric support for primary application/s assigned. Meets regularly with customers to identify issues that require remedy, either through reporting, screen changes, additional data fields or vendor customization.
  • Develops detailed working knowledge of an application(s) that is assigned as a primary responsibility and effectively writes detailed functional specifications.
  • Organizes work to ensure that priority projects/problems are resolved accordingly. Utilizes the capability of junior Applications Analysts or other senior Applications Analysts to get work completed.
  • Provides support for junior staff in creative customer support concepts, provides leadership by example.
  • Coordinates programming requests, report generation and training needs; serves as a liaison with other departments, vendors and consultants.
  • Corrects, modifies and maintains existing programs, ad hoc report and documentation as required to satisfy new or additional output requirements, under the supervision of the Manager or Director.
  • Prepares documentation governing the running of each new or revised program. Periodically reviews run specifications to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Analyzes current information system needs, develops and manages short and long range plans for the selection of application requirements, equipment, users training and budget requirements.
  • Identifies system logic, analyze and debug system problems, queries, reports.
  • Provides expert level 3 dedicated client support for two or more primary applications assigned and under minimal direction of a Senior Applications Analyst, Manager or the Director.
  • Documents system specific processes and operational concerns as directed by senior analysts or management.
  • Receives testing specifications from Senior Applications Analyst, Manager or Director with data of sufficient volume and variety to adequately test all routines of program including error and exception handling, checkpoint/restart and recovery routines. Conducts program tests of all items listed above and reviews results of each with Senior Applications Analyst, Manager or Director.
  • Assists senior staff in the overall support of the Eskenazi Health IS Applications.
  • Participates in system support meetings including status meetings within IS and with business owners.
  • Prepares and supports application release upgrades and enhancements.
  • Communicates with other Information Services staff and management regarding all technical aspects of data resources.
  • Assumes leadership responsibility for two or more dedicated applications.
  • Performs complex business analysis and business process redesign tasks.
  • Leads complex implementation projects as Project Manager.
  • Assists Manager or Director in defining support responsibility FTE matrix.
  • Assists in the creation of and management of the departmental budget.
  • Provides leadership to other Application Analysts, makes recommendations regarding annual reviews, and provides training on applications that expertise has been attained on.
  • Serves as an authority on operational performance evaluation and benchmarking for dedicated applications. Initiates and implements appropriate application solutions that are consistent with operating requirements.

Job Requirements

  • A Master's Degree in Business, MIS or equivalent field with three years' experience as an Application Analyst or Systems Analyst or Business Analyst or
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent and five years' experience as an Applications Analyst, System Analyst, or Project Manager or
  • An Associate's Degree and seven years of applicable experience in hospital application software customer support, analysis, application support and development.
