The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate | Inpatient Psych - Blake 11

Blake 11 is a twenty-four-bed locked psychiatric unit. The unit serves adults ages 18 and older. The inpatient service provides acute psychiatric care, diagnostic evaluations, and brief inpatient treatment. As a tertiary health care provider, Blake 11 accepts patients with diagnostically complex or treatment resistant disorders as well as patients with concomitant medical disease. Patients may be admitted to the unit 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The average length of stay is 7-10 days.

Schedule

  • (5) 8-hour shifts OR (2) 12-hour shifts & (2) 8 hour shifts
  • Nights | 11p - 7 am ;7 pm - 7 am
  • 40 hours per week
  • Rotational holiday and weekend schedule
  • Permanent position

What are we looking for?

The Patient Care Associate (PCA) will assist the RNs in Inpatient Psych with a variety of functions including phlebotomy and EKGs, transport patients, check rooms and equipment, assist patients with dressing and feeding and some clerical functions. Our Patient Care Associate team prides themselves in responding to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

Qualifications
Skills

Effective customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff and providers.

Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and superior organizational skills.

Ability to lift and transport patients, using the appropriate physical technique, in a safe manner for the patient and self.

Preferred: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.

Required: Licensed, certified as a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR Candidate enrolled in a Nursing program, Pre-Med or PA undergraduate program with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed at time of hire.
