Residential Programs and Services provides on campus housing and dining for over 12,000 students. We strive to create life-changing experiences by building relationships, developing others, and creating a sense of belonging for our students, their families and the IU community.
Through quality service that is dependable and flexible, our Environmental Operations team provides custodial care in residential buildings on IUB campus. We contribute to the health and morale of students, staff, faculty and visitors by maintaining building environments that are clean and in good repair.
Job Summary
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Cleans and sanitizes restroom facilities, shower areas, walls, partitions, windows, and door glass.
- Performs floor care, including all phases of hard floor care, carpet care including vacuuming and edging, and spot cleaning.
- Cleans lounges, stairwells, offices, and public areas.
- Performs snow removal, furniture moving, and other jobs several times of the year.
QualificationsEDUCATION
Required- General knowledge at the high school level.
SKILLS
Required
- Excellent attendance record.
- Demonstrates proficiency in work performance.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision on routine duties, and also cooperatively as part of a team concept.
- Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.
Working Conditions / DemandsAbility to move a wide variety of items from one place to another on a frequent basis, including furniture, and/or up and down stairs. Ability to remain stationary and/or move around the work environment for long periods of time in performing job assignments. Ability to ascend/descend using ladders and stairs in order to clean surfaces that are on different elevations and uneven surfaces.
Must be able to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds frequently and 25-50 pounds occasionally.
