Waubonsee Community College is accepting applications for Paraprofessional Tutors (Anatomy and Physiology).

Paraprofessional Tutors are responsible for providing support with the mastery of concepts and applications. They integrate effective study and learning strategies, thereby maximizing the students' potential to become independent learners and achieve academic success during individual walk-in, appointment based, or group tutoring.

Reporting to the Academic Support Coordinator, Tutors provide subject matter expertise and serve as models for students in the techniques, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs of successful learners. Assistance might include reviewing class material, discussing problems, reviewing test questions, or working on solutions to problems.

This position requires a professional with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively use technology to enhance tutoring sessions.

Successful Paraprofessional Tutors employ a holistic approach to student success, bring passion and enthusiasm to the Tutoring Centers, and are collaborative with students, faculty and colleagues. They work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate individual and small group tutoring sessions.
Create a welcoming environment and assist faculty/staff, tutors and students.
Conduct classroom visits.
Be punctual, begin all sessions promptly, use time for academic tasks, and focus on the student's needs.
Be courteous and helpful in all interactions including phone and online conversations.
Maintain a nice and clean appearance of workstation.
Maintain confidentiality with any shared information.
Complete and submit all required forms and trainings (e.g. time sheets and evaluations).
Adhere to all tutoring policies.
Assist the Academic Support Coordinator with various projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor's degree required with A's or B's in course work for which tutoring will be done.
Transcript is required at the time of interview.
Experience in teaching, tutoring, or delivering academic support at the high school or college level.

Position Qualifications:
Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people.
Appreciation for, and sensitivity to, cultural differences.
Demonstrate strong clerical and organizational skills.
Basic Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suites, and Canvas.
