Principal- Organizational Strategist

Location: Denver (This role is not eligible for 100% remote work and employees must live within a commutable distance to the office in which the role is based.)

Compensation: $150,000-170,000 base (+ variable bonus)

Who You'll Work With

Our Business Advisory team is looking for a seasoned management consultant who is passionate about building innovative solutions and guiding our clients on their most complex initiatives. Ideally, you will have a strong background in organizational strategy and operating model (talent, structure, governance, etc.) coupled with extensive management consulting experience and showcase yourself as a thought leader.

What You'll Do

Deliver Exceptionally

  • Leads clients through transformation initiatives by using an approach that incorporates five core capabilities: strategy development, business model determination, operating model build, organization design, and talent optimization.
  • Advises clients on organizational design approaches and options based on your experiences in the field and thorough understanding of methods and leading practices
  • Facilitates discussions to align leaders' understanding of strategy to include mission, vision, value proposition, long-term business strategy, and short-term business planning process. This role clarifies the unique value the new organization or business unit provides to their stakeholders/customers.
  • Defines new organizational frameworks encompassing operating models, organizational structures, roles, and ways of working to ensure the delivery of their mission, vision, and strategy.
  • Works with businesses to enable and achieve their strategy through new organizational thinking and execution, helping an organization to assess the organization, key drivers and interactions with business strategy, operations, technology, and talent.
  • Translates business strategy and objectives into measurable outcomes.

Grow Expertise
  • Deepen and broaden operating model design, organizational design and talent optimization expertise within Slalom, and the ability to mentor others in areas of expertise.
  • Develop a mastery in Sales Pursuit & Delivery Engagement roles, while contributing to Slalom enhancing its capabilities within the practice.

Grow Slalom
  • Contributes to building the Slalom community via modeling Slalom brand stewardship, encouraging colleagues to engage in internal initiatives, and managing a professional network in area of expertise.
  • Maximizes staffability (self & others) and ensuring responsible projects financial & operational health.
  • Drives sales by proactively identifying opportunities for Slalom to deliver and by leading or solutioning for pursuits.
  • Quantitative expectations for this role would be 80%+ utilization and $1M + sales revenue.

Lead
  • Develops teams by anticipating risks, proactively addressing obstacles, creating space for productive conflict, establishing norms to encourage open-mindedness and non-judgement for team mistakes, and co-creating team vision/strategy/outcomes as needed.
  • Develops skills to identify and mitigate personal biases and tailor style to collaborate with others, while also communicating openly and authentically on shares values, assumptions, and imperfections.
  • Leads others by celebrating uniqueness, empowers others to bring their full selves to work, and by modeling the habit of regularly requesting and providing feedback to others.
  • Manages a team of up to 5 direct reports and ensures each direct report understands performance expectations and regularly solicits and provides performance feedback.

What You'll Bring
  • 10+ years of leading and implementing transformational organizational strategy design and execution engagements; management consulting environment preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of how to design and apply operating model and organization principles, methodologies, and tools
  • Experience in organizational assessment, workforce planning, and organizational design/structure that allow for capability development and organizational scaling
  • Ability to lead the design and facilitation of strategic planning sessions - helping align all involved around a shared mission, vision, and strategy
  • Experience mentoring and/or teaching others to use change, organization, and/or learning methodologies
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, Word, and virtual collaboration tools
