SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Sr. DBA, develops and implements database backup and recovery strategies to prevent failures and ensure effective recovery of data as well as spear-head Disaster Recovery Planning, execution and testing. Reviews respective database log files and alerts as part of pro-active security measures, summarizing findings to the Sr. DBA and SIS Management, noting issues, resolutions and recommended mitigation steps. Maintains and develops Linux/Unix shell scripts to support the automated and SFTP import and export processes as well as various crontab jobs on University servers. Maintains security, user accounts and user groups for Oracle databases and other University SIS-related systems per established University standards. Assist TAMUT/TAMUC staff with trouble-shooting errors associated with the development and promotion of queries and reports against the SIS database. Supports the Banner Administrator in maintaining the Ellucian Banner ERP, its associated DEV, QA and production environments, TCC compatible scripts and code. Using UC4/Automic job automation tool, automates jobs/process and promotes them from QA to Production after TAMUC user testing. Using UC4/Automic management tools, regularly identify and correct failed jobs/processes, create, monitor and close tickets with Ellucian (Vendor) as needed. Cross trains with the Banner Admin to Support Web, Form and Report application services for Banner INB and self-service modules as well various applications associated with the SIS database (Degreeworks, WebFOCUS, TargetX, Apply Texas, etc.). Under the supervision of the Sr. DBA, clones and refreshes test/development databases to support IT personnel in testing new software changes and performance.
