A member of the Environmental Services operating department, capable of independently performing all job duties associated with the operation of the potable and cooling water systems, sanitary plant, de-ionized and R O water systems, water softeners and boiler operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

• Participates in the continuous improvement process by making suggestions to Supervisor.
• Ensures that all housekeeping requirements are met.
• Individual must perform to Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Procedures to maintain process flows to internal and external customers.
• Performs all duties associated with the Water/Boiler operations including but not limited to, the start-up and shut down of all of the systems.
• Takes appropriate action in all situations, as standard methods do not always adequately recognize irregularities on equipment or in processes.
• Prepares, records, and analyzes lab samples and indicating instruments to be able to make necessary adjustments on steam, waste and water equipment.
• Diagnoses and solves problems in emergency situations related to safe operation of boilers.
• Assists in preparing boilers for cleaning, inspections and repairs.
• Safely performs regularly assigned duties including boiler surface and bottom blow downs, control water samples, instrumentation, safety and gas controls.
• Actively participates in ongoing team meetings for continuous improvement of the processes for changing customer requirements. May be asked, upon occasion, to take a leadership role in the department. Will be required to take a leadership role in several 5 S projects, as they relate to the department.
• Performs maintenance on equipment within the limits of training and safe practices.
• Must be available to work at least 1 weekend a month.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Individual must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be able to work independently or as a member of a team to meet demands, which includes working weekends.
• Individual must be able to take initiative and demonstrate ingenuity and good judgment.
• Must complete on the job and study training to understand the Plant Emergency, and SPCC procedures.
• Job requires individual to be on feet most of the day, taking readings, trouble shooting systems, running analytical testing, working with moderate to heavy materials some stair and ladder climbing, and making adjustments as necessary to conform to customer requirements both internal and external (EPA).
• Must possess or be able to obtain, in a reasonable amount of time, (expectation is 18 - 24 months per license) an Ohio high-pressure boiler license and Ohio Class I Wastewater license.
• Employee will be exposed to normal plant conditions, which may include occasional fumes and/or disagreeable odors.
• Individual should possess a working knowledge of ISO classifications.
• Must possess basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Office products and email.
• Must demonstrate mechanical ability.
• Must have good verbal and written skills.
• Must have knowledge of basic math skills.
• Must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to provide customer service.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
