Your Role:

The Operations Superintendent has responsibility for developing and implementing activities in designated production areas to meet safety, production, quality, cost, and delivery goals. This position establishes, reviews, and prioritizes production schedules based on customer requirements, efficiency, materials supply, and labor resources. You will hire, train, and develop the manufacturing staff and lead manufacturing activities through production supervisors reporting to you. The position develops and implements departmental standards and practices; plans and administers budgets; provides leadership, direction, and counseling to direct reports and production staff. Interfaces and cooperates with Sales, Engineering, Materials Management, Facility Management, and Quality departments to jointly achieve business goals.

This role has leadership responsibility and accountability for manufacturing. You will be accountable for operating in compliance with the environmental, health, and safety regulations required by local and national agencies governing the respective facility and with EMD Electronics standards and policies.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer or other related technical field
  • 8+ years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in specialty chemical production systems
  • Achieve safety, health, and environmental targets (ex: Recordable Injury Rate) through the deployment of an effective Basic Safety Process (BSP)
  • Manage operating expenses at each facility within the Operating Plan budget
  • Achieve plant's production schedule in each facility by hiring, training, developing, and coaching the production staff and effectively balancing sub-contracted work with in-house production
  • Understanding and proven dedication to EH&S excellence
  • Confirmed leadership, communication and organizational change skills.
  • Experience working with business leaders (marketing and asset management), customers, and critical suppliers.
  • Solid understanding of basic chemical unit operations, including manufacturing, purification and packaging technologies
  • Knowledge of ISO quality and EH&S systems requirements
  • Experience working in an SAP driven manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading Continuous Improvement activities is beneficial; Six Sigma certification is a plus
