-Plastics: With new technology trends, our plastic additives can be experienced in many everyday items including vinyl, blow-molding bottles, film, rigid containers, PVC plastics, siding, decks and rails, foam pipes and profile formulations, window frames and high-efficiency lubricants.

About you

As an Operations Leader for Dow, you have shared responsibility and accountability for plant assets, personnel, and achievement of the plant to meet our site vision to be an inspired and inclusive site that collaborates closely with businesses to deliver safe and reliable operations for our employees, community, and Dow. You deliver business and administrative leadership to an empowered, work process driven, plant organization. You are a champion for inclusion and diversity, with proven excellent people leadership skills. You must be passionate about elimination of severe events through excellent LCS, process safety implementation, and provide leadership to the plant operations team which includes both professional individual contributors and administrative, technical and / or operational supports employees. You act as the primary back-up to the Production Leader. You have accountability for the performance and results of the team. As a leader, you foster a work environment with a high level of integrity and strong customer and safety focus, innovation and sustainability, continuous improvement and empowerment. The facility includes an Ethanolamines unit and two Ethyleneimines units in a customer centric and critical DIS business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partners with the Production leader to drive a strong personal safety, process safety, and environmental improvement plan to achieve EH&S goals and ensure compliance with regulatory and permit requirements.
  • Supports Production Leader to provide motivation, explanation, context, and communication purpose of messages to the empowered organization.
  • Develops operation employees and ensures career success via goal-setting, performance management, promotion processes, and employee development plans.
  • Helps develop the business model and strategy for the facility.
  • Explains to operations how the plant fits into the business and corporation.

Your skills, knowledge, and abilities include:

  • Strong technical and interpersonal skills along with a high level of initiative are required to be successful in this role.
  • Must be able to work with multiple functions and diverse workgroups, especially important to be able to work with shift and technical operations teams
  • Work during off-hours and weekends are sometimes required during plant turnarounds or upsets.
  • Serve as landlord when production leader is unavailable.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in engineering or science.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in engineering, manufacturing, or a related role

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.

  • This position is located in the St. Charles Operations facility in Hahnville, LA near New Orleans, Louisiana.
