Secondary responsibilities include supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the division to which the adjunct faculty member belongs as well as the College as a whole.</p><p>The Nursing Clinical Adjunct Professor is safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment background and drug testing.</p></p><strong>What position does this position report to?:</strong><p>HP Division Dean and Nursing Program Director</p><strong>What position(s) reports to this position?:</strong><p><p>None</p></p><strong>Minimum Education/Experience:</strong><p><p>Active, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma.</p><p>Baccalaureate degree in nursing.</p><p>At least two years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting.</p></p><strong>Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</strong><p><p>Evidence of current practice in area of teaching assignment.</p><p>Demonstrated positive human relations and communication (oral and written) skills.</p><p>Must be a self-starter with initiative and the ability to work independently as well as coordinate work with colleagues and peers.</p><p>Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.</p><p>Committed to helping students achieve their goals to be successful and attain a college education.</p><p>Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs used in the department and on campus (example, Learning Management System).</p><p>Organization and attention to detail.</p><p>Ability to work well as a team member in an instructional unit.</p><p>Ability to communicate and articulate concepts in an organized manner both verbally and in writing.</p><p>Ability to read and understand content in order to assist students when they are having difficulty interpreting concepts.</p><p>Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students individually and in groups.</p><p>Must be punctual.</p><p>Must be reliable.</p></p><strong>Physical Demands/Working Conditions:</strong><p><p>1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:<br />Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.</p><p>2. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.</p><p>This position requires the person to frequently move about the classroom and lab area to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.</p><p>This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.</p><p>This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office equipment and mobile devices to prepare instructional documents, answer email correspondence, and complete other activities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.</p><p>This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.</p><p>This position requires the person to frequently use upper and lower body to exert force up to 20 pounds to push, pull, grasp, and/or lift materials or equipment.</p><p>This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.</p><p>This position requires the person to frequently position self to work with classroom and lab equipment to instruct or assist students and patients.</p><p>3. VISUAL ACUITY:<br />This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.</p><p>4. General Expectations<br />Attend Adjunct Orientation Night meeting at the beginning of the semester. Participate in course team meetings as scheduled during the semester. Adhere to all college and nursing program policies and expectations as outlined in the College Handbook, Nursing Student Handbook, and course syllabus.</p><p>2. Campus Lab &amp; Simulation Duties:<br />Come to campus lab and simulation experiences prepared to teach your assigned station.</p><p>Engage in instruction and evaluation of students as assigned.</p><p>Communicate with the team leader, or designee, for any students needing remediation of skills.</p><p>Participate in lab and simulation evaluation as assigned.</p><p>When assigned, set-up and take down nursing campus skills lab and simulation stations as directed by HP Lab and Simulation Director.</p><p>Communicate with HP Lab and Simulation Director or Coordinator when additional student lab supplies or equipment is needed.</p><p>3. Clinical Duties: <br />Meet with nursing manager(s) in each area where students will be assigned prior to the first clinical day to discuss clinical objectives and expectations.</p><p>Participate in student orientations to clinical site and areas.</p><p>Make and post client assignments for students prior to each clinical day. Information on specific course requirements will be provided.</p><p>Input student unit assignments and take attendance in the MyClinicalExchange (mCE) as directed by course team leader.</p><p>On clinical day, verify and modify clinical assignments prior to student arrival, making changes on the MyClinicalExchange; input student attendance on mCE.</p><p>Establish and maintain methods for students and course team leader to contact instructor during all clinical experiences, ensuring ready accessibility at all times.</p><p>Accompany students to all new clinical areas, introducing them to staff and ensuring student familiarity with area.</p><p>Provide ongoing and appropriate on-site clinical instruction and supervision for each clinical experience.</p><p>Be present and available to students during entire designated clinical prep times.</p><p>Act as liaison between clinical staff, students, and Program faculty.</p><p>Document observations of student skills and behaviors.</p><p>Provide feedback as well as written documentation to students, Team Leader, and/or Program Associate Director or Director if problems or student absences occur.</p><p>Schedule and facilitate clinical conferences according to guidelines in course syllabus.</p><p>Complete clinical evaluation documents and utilize same for mid-term and final evaluation conferences for each assigned student.
