Responsibilities

The Medical Technologist is trained and knowledgeable in clinical laboratory analysis, theory, and terminology. He/she is knowledgeable about the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, all hospital laboratory policies and procedures pertaining to testing, quality control, proficiency testing, quality improvement and any other system in place to assure timely and accurate results. Must interact with patients in a professional and caring manner when providing information or collecting specimens.

  • Daily instrument maintenance and quality control.
  • Understand pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes.
  • Evaluation and interpretation of patient results and entry of results into LIS.
  • Knowledge of critical values and proper dissemination of information to providers.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and practices when interacting with patients and visitors and performing lab work.
  • Behave in a professional, collaborative and supportive manner. Recognize and respect religious and cultural differences.
  • Follow HIPAA rules.
  • Maintain a high level knowledge and skill in all areas of the lab. Complete organization requirements, attend mandatory meetings, and maintain credentials.
  • Analyze/supervise projects or development of new procedures.
  • Perform essential functions per ADA position analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Medical Technology training required.
  • ASCP, NCA or equivalent required.
  • 2 years experience preferred.
  • Able to meet ADA requirements.
