A Day in the Life:

The successful candidate demonstrates efficiency, contagious optimism, and a "can do" demeanor. The role is responsible for leading the Packaging and Labeling Team and systems/processes with responsibilities for safety, quality, compliance, cost, and human resources.

The primary responsibilities are as follows:

  • Promotes and facilitates the safest working environment for all employees
  • Collaborate with other supervisors on 1st shift to ensure a smooth handoff between shifts.
  • Creates work center performance goals and leads each work center and each individual toward achieving those goals. Performs full performance evaluations for all direct reports.
  • Recommends and coordinates measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Creates daily schedules and weekly goals for the team, specific to work order readiness, quality, and support of internal customers.
  • Works with product realization teams to facilitate the introduction of new products into manufacturing.
  • Schedules team overtime, plans time off, and supervises overall attendance.
  • Performs full performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Creates and supports career development plans for direct reports.
  • Drives Practical Process Improvements (PPI) with a high level of team member involvement and engagement, applying lean methodologies to realize process efficiencies.
  • Recommends and coordinates measures to improve processes, quality, and safety.
  • Effectively reviews metrics to benchmark and drive team performance.
  • Works with support staff such as the Equipment Services Team, IT, Quality, Manufacturing Teams, Planning and Scheduling to complete manufacturing schedule to meet customer demands.
  • Effectively communicates barriers or issues and obtains needed support for resolution.
Keys to Success:

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering or other related discipline preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or research laboratory, and 1+ years of experience in a role demonstrating strong leadership abilities with the capability to demonstrate diverse resources, respond quickly, understand the impact of changes and decisions, facilitate agreement, build collaborative relationships, and understand customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability in or supporting manufacturing.
  • Experience with ISO or cGMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with an ERP system.
  • Experience with Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Systems and tools (or similar Continuous Improvement and Lean Systems).
  • Able to work with numerous departments and varying levels of employees.
  • Requires knowledge of manufacturing processes and inter-departmental responsibilities.
  • Must ensure all team members work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials while adhering to ergonomic guidelines.
  • Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $75,000.00-$112,500.00.
